Our progressive, luxurious, state-of-the-art dental office in Houston, Tx is looking for an Expanded Functions Registered Dental Assistant to complete our awesome team! The ideal candidate would possess the following traits: Great with kids! Incredible work ethic Detail-oriented Has 2+ years pediatric dental assisting experience Dependable and Reliable Works well with team members Experienced with digital dental software Willing to go above and beyond Positive attitude Must have their own x-ray, nitrous, coronal polishing, and sealant certifications Works well independently Great multitasker and ability to complete tasks timely and efficiently Coronal polishing, Sealant and Nitrous certified a plus! Open Dental experience, Bilingual, and Social Media skills are a plus! Job duties for this position are as follows: Assisting Doctor (or any associate dentist) during a variety of treatment procedures Taking and developing dental radiographs (x-rays) Asking about the patients’ medical history and taking blood pressure and pulse Serving as an infection control officer, developing infection control protocol and preparing and sterilizing instruments and equipment Helping patients and their parents feel comfortable before, during and after dental treatment Providing patients and their parents with instructions for oral care following surgery or other dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling) Teaching patients and their parents appropriate oral hygiene strategies to maintain oral health;(e.g., brushing, flossing and nutritional counseling) Taking impressions of patients teeth for study casts (models of teeth) Assisting in front office duties such as answering the phone, scheduling patients, etc. Communicating with patients and suppliers (e.g., scheduling appointments, answering the telephone) Helping to provide direct patient care in all dental specialties, including orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics and oral surgery Keeping operatories neat and orderly Maintaining clinical equipment Maintaining a sterile and OSHA compliant environment Participating in CE courses Participating in a cleaning schedule for the clinic and office Keeping Dr. (or the associate dentist, as applicable) on time Being friendly, encouraging and an active listener with patients and co-workers Helping to ensure the clinic runs in a timely, efficient manner.
