The Lewis College is seeking a director to manage the operations of the Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene (B.S.D.H.) Program. This is a twelve-month tenure or non-tenure track position, depending on the qualifications of the candidate. A terminal degree and a defined area of research are needed for consideration to the tenure track. The expected start date is January 3, 2022. Requirements: • Master’s degree in dental hygiene or health sciences, Ph.D. preferred • Candidate must have knowledge and level of competency commonly associated with the completion of a baccalaureate degree in a course of study related to the dental hygiene field • Administrative experience sufficient to thoroughly understand the role of director, usually interpreted to require three to five years of related experience • Active license as RDH in Georgia (may have GA teaching license) • Three (3) years of experience teaching in a pre- or post-licensure registered dental hygiene or dental program • Experience in direct patient care as a registered dental hygienist • Demonstrated sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of college students Knowledge Required: • Georgia Board of Dentistry rules and regulations. • Commission on Dental Accreditation (CODA) in Dental Hygiene standards. • Skill in the analysis of problems and the development and implementation of solutions • Skill in oral and written communication. • Command of English language usage, spelling, grammar, and punctuation. • Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy. Statement of Responsibilities: The director of the Advanced Dental Hygiene Program is responsible and accountable for ensuring the fulfillment of educational goals and objectives. These responsibilities require leadership in both academic and workforce areas and include meeting student retention goals; directing and participating in educational planning; program organization; supervision of full-time and part-time faculty; evaluating program faculty and student performance; recruiting and advising students; developing and maintaining the program budget and generating program reports as required. Principle Responsibilities: 1. Supervises, directs, and participates in student-related activities, which include recruitment, analysis of transcripts, advisement and counseling, retention, and analysis of graduation petitions. 2. Manages the educational programs to include course review and development and program revision. 3. Manages departmental short- and long-range planning and budget preparation. 4. Responds to and provides advisement relative to faculty and/or student complaints. 5. Prepares all reports and documentation required by the university. 6. Hires faculty, makes faculty assignments, evaluates faculty, provides professional development guidance, issues commendations, and administers discipline/corrective action as appropriate. 7. Participates on university committees and acts as liaison to higher administration. 8. Works cohesively with AS dental hygiene program director at Perimeter College. 9. Teaches the required Georgia State University course hours. 10.
