Description

Our premier oral maxillofacial surgical group is looking for a top performing surgical assistant to join our team! With six board certified Oral and Maxillofacial surgeons offering patient care within the San Antonio Medical Center, Stone Oak, and Boerne area- we provide superior service to our patients and referring dental groups. We strive to promote staff motivation and a positive environment, teamwork is a must, dependability and accountability are highly important. Job duties and responsibilities as a Surgical Assistant include the following: Assist in all aspects of Oral Surgery and clinic Greeting and rooming patients Take digital x-rays and CT scans Confirmation of PMP status prior to patient consult (Prescription Monitoring Program) Setting up trays for surgical procedures Setting up operatories for surgical procedures Completing all forms necessary for procedures (consent, anesthesia sheet, biopsy forms) Assisting the physicians chairside in procedures under IV sedation and local sedation. Monitoring patients who are undergoing procedures (vital signs, O2 saturation, etc.) Recovering patients who undergo IV sedation and escort them out to car Reviewing post-op instructions with patients Electronic submission of prescriptions for the doctors Cleaning and sterilizing instruments using proper organization Cleaning, sterilizing, turnover of op rooms after surgery Proper logging of all controlled drugs used in IV procedures Calling various labs for specimen and splint impression pick-up Keeping count of inventory in rooms- restocking with supplies Constant review of next day schedule to confirm everything is in place and prepared to see patients (special instruments and supplies, implants, splints, various reports) Assisting other teams in clinic as needed; act as a circulator during downtime Pouring and trimming models Helping to compile records to submit to insurance for pre-authorization (duplicate models and x- rays, scan copies of photos) Assist with HandPs for OR cases, prepare all appropriate hospital paperwork Help front office answer phones, return calls for the doctors, take messages, etc. JOB REQUIREMENTS Must Be Available During Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday 7:30am – 4pm Must Have Reliable Transportation Must Be Able to Travel Between Facilities (offices located at Methodist Plaza, Stone Oak and Boerne) TSBDE -RDA Certified (upon hire), Nitrous Oxide Certification and DAANCE certification Able to Handle Multiple Tasks At Once with Professionalism at all times Benefits offered through US Oral Surgery Management: Medical, Dental, Vision, 401k Opportunity for Bi-Annual Bonus Annual Uniform Allowance Annual CE Allowance Team Building Events Paid Registration and Sponsorship for DAANCE certification Opportunity for Growth within the company
