We are a state of the art office with an in-house lab offering Emax and Zirconia crowns and bridges as well as some removable. From Cone Beam, to Cerec, to Biolase, (and of course digital radiography and charts) our office has always been on the cutting edge. DESCRIPTION This highly motivated and positive individual works under the dentist’s supervision to prepare patients for oral examination and assists in providing treatment to the teeth, mouth and gums. The Dental assistant will also be trained to perform more sophisticated functions such as removing sutures, processing x-rays and taking oral impressions. KEY TASKS The requirements listed below are representative, but not all inclusive, to the knowledge, skill and ability necessary. - Assist the dentist in all dental procedures - Prepare patients for treatment - Hand instruments and materials to dentists and keep patient’s mouth dry and clear by using suction or other devices - Prepare tray set ups for dental procedures and maintain adequate supply levels in each operatory, replenishing as needed - Prepare materials for taking impressions and completing restorations - Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment - Obtain dental history and/or records from the patient and ensure that the health history is updated for all returning patients - Take accurate x-rays - Take and monitor vital signs - Instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care - Record patient charting and all doctor notes as directed - Escort patients from the waiting room before their appointments and introduce them to the continuing care clerk afterwards - Tend to and remove surgical dressings and sutures as needed - At least 2 years experience in Oral Surgery, including extraction, implant placement and restoration, bone grafting - At least 1 year experience in sedation dentistry, including Nitrous Oxide, Oral Conscious Sedation, and IV Sedation DENTAL ASSISTANT TRAINING AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS - High school diploma - A degree or certificate in dental assisting - Good communication skills - Basic computer knowledge - An eagerness to learn on the job
