Description

We are seeking a compassionate, skilled, and dedicated Pediatric Dental Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with children and a commitment to providing high-quality dental care. As a Pediatric Dental Assistant, you will support our pediatric dentists in delivering exceptional patient care and creating a positive dental experience for children and their families. Inexperienced applicants are welcome, and training will be offered for the right candidate. Key Responsibilities: 1. Patient Preparation and Support: • Greet and prepare patients for dental procedures. • Provide reassurance and comfort to children before, during, and after treatment. • Explain dental procedures and oral hygiene instructions in a child-friendly manner. 2. Clinical Assistance: • Assist pediatric dentists during various dental procedures, including examinations, cleanings, fillings, extractions, and sealant applications. • Prepare and sterilize dental instruments and equipment following infection control protocols. • Take digital dental radiographs (X-rays). 3. Administrative Duties: • Schedule and confirm patient appointments. • Maintain accurate patient records and update charts as necessary. • Manage inventory and order dental supplies as needed. 4. Oral Hygiene Education: • Educate children and parents on proper brushing and flossing techniques. • Provide guidance on diet and other factors affecting dental health. 5. Behavior Management: • Utilize effective behavior management techniques to ensure a positive dental experience for anxious or uncooperative children. • Foster a welcoming and child-friendly environment in the dental office. 6. Emergency Response: • Assist in managing dental emergencies and provide first aid if required. • Follow emergency protocols and ensure patient safety at all times. Qualifications: • High school diploma or equivalent. • Completion of a Dental Assistant program is preferred but not required. • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) certification is an advantage but not mandatory. • Previous experience working with children in a dental or healthcare setting is a plus but not necessary. • Knowledge of dental terminology, procedures, and instruments is beneficial but not required. Skills and Abilities: • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. • Patience and the ability to work well with children and parents. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment. • Empathy and a positive attitude toward pediatric dental care.
