PRACTICE LOCATIONS & HOURS: Monday-Thursday (8:00 am-5:00 pm) & Friday (8:00 am-1:00 pm) Huntersville: 4605 Hylas Lane Unit B, Huntersville, NC 28078 Harrisburg: 4079 Harris Square Dr. Harrisburg, NC 28075 We are looking for an independently motivated individual who loves working in a high-paced environment for our pediatric team! We expect positivity and teamwork to maintain a fun, hard-working, and positive clinical result and positive atmosphere for all involved. CLINICAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • Assist the pediatric dentist during dental procedures such as cleanings, fillings, and extractions • Appropriately apply and place sealants on children of all ages. • Prepare and sterilize dental instruments, equipment, and treatment rooms. • Take and/or process dental X-rays, impressions, and photos as directed by Dr. Amanda. • Comfort and reassure young patients before and during procedures. • Provide parent/guardian and patients with instructions for oral care following dental treatment procedures, such as the placement of a restoration (filling) as prescribed by Dr. Amanda. • Apply topical anesthetics and fluoride treatments as instructed. • Obtain and document patient medical history and dental records by thoroughly reviewing the Medical History Update form. • Educate families on nutrition and oral hygiene practices for children of all ages. • Perform cleanings on children of all ages. • Ensure clinical charting and notes are completed by the end of each appointment to set the next team member up for success. • Perform auxiliary functions such as stocking supplies, confirming appointments, cleaning, etc. • Maintain patient confidentiality and compliance by following state and federal HIPAA laws. • Communicate confidently and professionally with parent/guardian(s) and supplies are needed (I.E. scheduling appointments, answering phones, ordering supplies, etc.) • Assist Dr. Amanda as needed and support the dental team for the best customer service and clinical outcome possible. • Other duties assigned. PATIENT CARE & EDUCATION: • Explain dental procedures and oral hygiene practices in a child-friendly manner. • Teach children proper brushing and flossing techniques. • Provide post-treatment care instructions to parent/guardian(s). • Assist in managing patients with dental anxiety or special needs. • Communicate any important case-specific needs to Dr. Amanda as needed for patients who need additional TLC, etc. INDIVIDUAL RESPONSIBILITIES: • None at this time. REQUIRED SKILLS: • Decision-making skills: Must have superior decision making-skills to work in our high-paced environment. • Communication: Must possess executive-level communication and influencing skills with the ability to resolve issues, build consensus among groups of diverse internal/external stakeholders, and have proven skill in negotiating and mediating conflict. Must be able to effectively speak with children and parent/guardian(s). • Professionalism and Integrity • Organization, Planning, and Analytical Skills • Teamwork: Must exhibit professional demeanor and attitude in all areas. QUALIFICATIONS: • High school diploma or equivalent required. • Completion of an accredited dental assisting program (preferred). • DA Certification • Coronal Polishing Certification • N.C. Dental Radiography Certificate (as required by state law). • CPR Certification • Experience with digital x-rays and Dolphin Software Management Preferred. • Minimum of two-year experience working with children in a dental or healthcare setting (preferred). • Bilingual (English/Spanish) Preferred. WORKING CONDITIONS: • Must be willing to work at BOTH pediatric locations (Huntersville & Harrisburg). • Must be able to use both left and right hands. • Fast-paced pediatric and orthodontic dental office setting. • Interaction with children of all ages, including special needs patients. • Must be able to lift to 10 pounds at times. • Requires prolonged periods of standing, leaning, and bending based on procedure, etc. • Work hours vary based on the specific office schedule and/or business needs.
