Blue Sky Family Dentistry is currently looking to invite a new dentist to join our team! We know the pandemic changed everything, but we have been very fortunate to have been able to continue to grow our practice throughout these hard times and to expand our amazing team. September will mark our 3 year anniversary! Blue Sky Family Dentistry is located in Austin, Texas. The office was built with a passion for providing exceptional dental care and the best possible experience for each and every patient. It’s about more than a great dental experience; it’s about building trust and relationships and providing excellent outcomes. What makes us different? As a quick introduction, I’m Dr. Ben Corpron and I’m the founder of Blue Sky Family Dentistry. I’m a nerd, family man, gamer, hiker, failed science fiction author, and a digital dentist. I believe that all of our patients should be treated comprehensively and that begins with gathering all the right information. We have digital x-rays and a CBCT machine for full 3D airway evaluation, implant, periodontic, orthodontic, and endodontic treatment planning. We also have an iTero intraoral scanner to capture the occlusion of all of our new patients so more robust conversations can be had about any obvious signs of malocclusion or erosion as well as for treatment planning our in-office aligners and additive dentistry cases. Archform is currently our software of choice for aligners and Exocad is our software of choice for dentures, hybrids, additive dentistry. Blue Sky Plan is used on a regular basis for implant and surgical treatment planning. We also have a NextDent 5100 3D printer that is used to fabricate everything from clear aligners, implant surgical guides, mouth guards, dentures, hybrid prostheses for all-on-x cases, and occlusal veneers for additive reconstruction of severe enamel wear. Not familiar with all of that? That’s because most of what we do at Blue Sky Family Dentistry isn’t taught in dental school. I strongly believe that there is so much more to dentistry than just fillings and crowns and cleanings. While these are obvious mainstays of dentistry, there is so much more to do and learn. I am looking for an associate dentist who shares my eagerness to learn about all areas of dentistry and I want to share what I’ve learned with the right candidate. Our office has gotten busier than I can handle on my own (we get around 70-90 new patients a month) and I’m looking for either of two candidates: 1) an experienced candidate who wants to delve into something new or who wants to advance their experience within the digital realm of dentistry 2) or a new graduate who is looking for mentorship and wants to learn about what the next wave of digital dentistry has to bring. We will expand your expertise in the areas of endodontics, implants, orthodontics, periodontics, the business/entrepreneurial side of dentistry, and the art of compassionate/comprehensive patient management. If a recent grad, experience with a GPR program or an AEGD is helpful but not an absolute requirement. Part time or full time? The position will be full time but flexible. Goal is a minimum of 4 days a week with up to 5 depending on your preference. The office hours are Mon-Thursday 8:00-12:30, 1:30-4:30 and alternating Fridays with the same hours. The office may eventually open on Saturdays to provide greater convenience to our patients. How much experience do I need to apply? This is the perfect position for both an experienced dentist or a new graduate. You will have the support of a dental assistant, a dental hygienist, and the opportunity to learn about digital dentistry, the business of dentistry and how this can improve the outcomes of our patients. Time will be set aside every week to review cases and to learn new skills. CE courses will be provided for the right candidate. What are we looking for? The right candidate will be upbeat, self-motivated, compassionate, a good communicator, and have solid clinical skills. We consider it our number one priority to make sure our patients feel comfortable and welcome by treating everyone with warmth and care. We see patients of all ages and backgrounds, including children and patients with disabilities so we expect every person on our staff to be patient, understanding, and professional. While we do some pediatric dentistry, around 80% of our patients are adults. While a few years of experience or a GPR/AEGD is a plus, it is not absolutely necessary for the right candidate so if you think you’d be a good fit then please apply! Expected duties: Must be able to diagnose, treat, and educate patients about the various conditions that affect the dentition and the periodontium. Must be able to perform basic general dentistry procedures such as direct and indirect restorations and be comfortable doing atraumatic extractions. Experience and confidence doing root canals is a big plus! Must have examples of your own cases. This would be a clear area for immediate growth for the incoming dentist. Must be willing to learn the basics of clear aligner therapy to treat malocclusion. Our aligner system is all made in-house, so there’s a lot to learn. You must be able to interpret digital x-rays, including CBCT. Must be able and willing to gain proficiency with a digital scanner (we use the iTero) and learn how to use various softwares to facilitate treatment planning. These include the following: Archform: Clear aligners Meshmixer: Cosmetic mockups, STL cleanup Blue Sky Plan: Implant and surgical planning Exocad: Cosmetic mockups, dentures, crown and bridge, provisional onlays for additive reconstruction, and provisional fixed prosthetics. There are times when all assistants are busy and you must be willing/able to help with sterilization/turning over your own room if necessary. This is the exception to the rule but everyone is expected to pull their weight if things get busy. Initially you may be expected to do some exams and cleanings, more to get you acquainted with the office, the staff, and our instruments and workflow. This is a good way to meet new patients and to introduce yourself to established patients. Texas N2O or class 1 or 2 waking sedation certification is a plus. Requirements: DMD or DDS from an accredited dental school Valid Texas state dental license (or have proof of being in the process of obtaining this license) Ability to maintain state required insurance coverage. Current BLS/CPR certification Understand and practice Health and Safety precautions and regulations, understand and follow HIPAA and OSHA regulations Must have excellent interpersonal skills. Be a reliable and collaborative team member Everything else is teachable. Benefits and compensation: We offer free dental to our employees with the exception of lab fees. This includes clear aligners! Paid sick leave accumulates every pay period for staff that have worked with us for over 6 months. CE courses will be covered for staff members that have worked with us for over 6 months and who have proven motivated to expand their skill set. Compensation will be a daily base pay or a percentage of collections, whichever is greater. This will be calculated out every pay period depending on collections. What’s next for you? If you are interested in this position please send us a copy of your resume and a cover letter describing why you would be a good candidate for this position. We look forward to meeting you!
