DESCRIPTION: The Orthodontic Assistant’s primary responsibility is to build and maintain a successful working relationship with the doctor and patients to provide an incredible experience while delivering quality care and results. Responsibilities: Assist the doctor with all orthodontic procedures Provide an ultimate patient experience with each patient by engaging with the patient and parent Perform clinical duties effectively in the scheduled appointment time Lead by example; exercise good teamwork; have mutual respect for the team; partner with team to create an outstanding experience for our patients Take directions from doctor Anticipate doctor’s needs Perform patient oral evaluations Complete x-rays and intra-oral photos of patients as appropriate Instruct patients on general oral health care Become proficient in taking Digital Scans Record patient charting and all doctor notes in the digital patient chart as directed by the doctor Perform efficient and accurate procedures to maintain a smooth flow of patients throughout the day Maintain patient confidentiality through HIPAA compliance Follow OSHA and company safety policies and procedures Promote and market Hart Orthodontics’ services, retail products and doctor to patients and the community Educate patients and address their questions and/or concerns Knowledge and understanding of dental terminology sufficient to perform job successfully Verify patient health history (basic health review, medications, understanding impact with dentistry) and document appropriately in patient’s chart Accountability for successful performance of all job functions Assist with administrative duties Maintain and order Ortho inventory as assigned Participate and contribute to staff meetings Prepare tray setups for regular appointments Clean and prepare operatory per guidelines prior to patient appointment Sterilize equipment and operatories per OSHA guidelines Maintain adequate supply levels in each chair Assist staff in scheduling patients’ follow up visits Monitor level of dental supplies Regular and punctual attendance Education/Certification: Minimum high school diploma or equivalent RDA certification as required by state within 30 days of starting position (Recommended, but not required) Experience in a professional environment with direct patient contact preferred Maintain annual OSHA, HIPAA and Infection Control training as required by law Skills/Abilities: Energetic, Compassionate, Outgoing (not afraid to sing and dance with patients), Empathetic, Knowledgeable, Willing to learn and be taught, Coachable, Confident Outstanding positive attitude and demeanor Excellent customer service skills Strong initiative Professionalism in all aspects of job Good grooming and professional image Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills Excellent verbal and written communication skills Strong organizational and anticipation skills Ability to multi-task and work in a fast paced environment Good manual dexterity Strong computer skills and the ability to learn new programs as required Preferred: Conversational Spanish 1 year as an assistant in the dental field Position/Compensation/Benefits Full Time Competitive Salary Commensurate with Experience Work-Life Balance Company Paid Holidays Paid Personal/Vacation Time Bonuses Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a team member to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
